Perspectives on the Abrahamic God
Judaism, Christianity, and Islam hold core agreements — and distinctive differences — in how they understand God. Naming those honestly is the first step toward real dialogue.
Judaism
Focuses on the absolute oneness and indivisibility of God (Adonai), a covenantal relationship with the Jewish people, and the rejection of any physical representation or incarnation of the Divine.
Christianity
Believes in one God who is a Trinity — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — with Jesus Christ considered the incarnation of God.
Islam
Emphasizes strict monotheism (Tawhid), affirming the absolute oneness and transcendence of God (Allah), and rejecting any partners or physical manifestations of God.
Where the paths meet
Across all three, the affirmation is the same: there is One God, the Creator of all, worthy of worship, mercy, and justice. The differences are real and worth respecting — but so is the profound common ground.
